This is something she has in common with Murderbot which is why they have always gotten along so well. Mensah is humanized and the reader is let into her conflicted thoughts about her dislike, and recognition of the importance of, dealing with emotions. I should have known Martha Wells would continue to be a genius at telling Murderbot, and by extension Dr. The first four books in the series have all been under a comfortable two hundred pages, and this is a fraction of that length.
