That’s how you know it was a good short story. Of course, once things started getting good, it was over.
This is something she has in common with Murderbot which is why they have always gotten along so well. Mensah is humanized and the reader is let into her conflicted thoughts about her dislike, and recognition of the importance of, dealing with emotions. Mensah’s point of view immediately after the events of book four. I should have known Martha Wells would continue to be a genius at telling Murderbot, and by extension Dr. The first four books in the series have all been under a comfortable two hundred pages, and this is a fraction of that length.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this short story.
